As a Senior Associate in the firm’s Walnut Creek office, Joseph Aguilar brings a diverse background to the Litigation and Real Estate, Land Use, Financial Services, Construction, and Employment groups.

Proven Litigator to Private and Public Clients

Joseph has represented a diverse set of private, non-profit and public entity clients in matters including real estate, financial services, construction disputes, employment, premises liability, personal injury, and catastrophic injury. His wide ranging experience includes preparing real estate disputes for trial, defending employers from sexual and gender discrimination claims, and representing a variety of clients against claims of catastrophic injury.

In his representation of consumer lenders, Joseph defends banks, servicers, and trustees against claims under the Truth in Lending Act, California’s Homeowner Bill of Rights, quiet title actions, and the numerous other statutory and regulatory schemes that govern the consumer secured lending.  He counsels and advocates for residential and commercial real estate agents and brokers in a variety of disputes. 

Joseph represents developers, general contractors, and sub-contractors in allegations of construction delay and construction defect claims.  With experience litigating before courts and arbitrators, Joseph understands the complex nature of these cases and how to produce efficient results for his clients.  

A Trial Lawyer’s Perspective

While serving as a Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney, Joseph prosecuted multiple jury trials to verdict and attained convictions.  This invaluable experience allows Joseph to provide his clients with the necessary counseling and perspective of the case as it nears trial.

Passionate About Diversity

Joseph is also the Co-Chair of the Archer Norris Diversity Committee.  In this role he promotes diversity in the legal profession through engaging with a wide variety of minority bar associations around the Bay Area and the State to help the legal community match the community it serves.  Joseph is also a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association’s Diversity Committee and is on the Advisory Counsel of the Community College Pathway to Law Program for Contra Costa County.  He is also a member of the California Minority Counsel Program, Hispanic National Bar Association, and San Francisco La Raza Lawyers Association.
