WALNUT CREEK, CALIF., August 31, 2009 – Archer Norris is proud to announce that five partners, four in Northern California and one in Southern California, have been included in Super Lawyers magazine’s roster of top attorneys in California for 2009.
In Northern California, partners Jonathan C. Bacon, William H. Staples, Kenneth C. “KC” Ward, and Stephen B. Welch were named to the 2009 Super Lawyers list. Only five percent of attorneys in California are named to this list by the publication. The Super Lawyers survey was sponsored by Key Professional Media, Inc., publishers of Law & Politics magazine.
Partner Limor Lehavi was selected by Super Lawyers magazine for inclusion on the 2009 Southern California Rising Stars list. Those named as Rising Stars are recognized as the top 2.5 percent of attorneys under the age of forty who have been practicing for ten years or less in Southern California.

Jonathan Bacon has been selected as a Super Lawyer for six years in a row. Bacon focuses his practice on construction defect and toxic tort litigation. He represents a variety of subcontractors, general contractors, and property and business owners in cases involving residential, high rise and commercial construction defects, and toxics-related bodily injury claims throughout California. Bacon earned his J.D. from Golden Gate University (1981) and a B.A. from Ithaca College (1977).
William Staples is a veteran defense litigator and is head of Archer Norris’ litigation group. He resolves complex disputes for businesses, employers, manufacturers, and insurance carriers. For the past three decades, his practice emphasis has included product liability, construction defects and disputes, employment and commercial litigation, premises liability, toxic torts, and catastrophic injuries. He received his J.D. from University of San Francisco School of Law (1975) and his B.A. from University of California, Berkeley (1971). Staples has a Martindale-Hubbell AV rating.
Kenneth “KC” Ward has been named as a Super Lawyer for three consecutive years. In his career as trial attorney, Ward has represented a variety of clients and has tried over 85 cases to verdict. He is recognized as a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, a Master in the American Inns of Court, and has held a Martindale-Hubbell AV rating for over 20 years. He received his J.D. from Hastings College of the Law (1974), his B.S. from Northern Illinois University (1968), Phi Eta Sigma, and also graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Ward is admitted to practice in California and Nevada.
Steven Welch,named to Super Lawyers for a second time, heads the Archer Norris Construction Litigation Group. His practice specializes in representing subcontractors, general contractors, and owners in all types of construction disputes. These claims include construction defect, property damage, breach of contract, delay damage, business interruption, mold contamination, and job site injury. Welch received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law (1989) and his B.A. from St. Michael’s College (1985).
Limor Lehavi has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for the third consecutive year. With a strong litigation background focusing on insurance bad faith and coverage related litigation, Lehavi has successfully litigated insurance related issues in state and federal courts on behalf of prominent insurance carriers and has co-tried several high exposure insurance bad faith cases to verdict in California and Federal courts. She earned her L.L.B. (J.D. equivalent) from the University of Haifa School of Law (1995) and her L.L.M., cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law (1996).
