Archer Norris Partners Named in Super Lawyers Magazine

WALNUT CREEK, CALIF., August 21, 2008 – Archer Norris is proud to announce that four attorneys, three in Northern California and one in Southern California, have been named by Super Lawyers magazine among the top attorneys in California for 2008. In Northern California, Partners Kenneth C. “KC” Ward, Jonathan C. Bacon and Steven B. Welch were named by Super Lawyers. Only five percent of attorneys in California are named by the publication.  

Partner Limor Lehavi was selected for inclusion in Southern California Super Lawyers — Rising Star Edition 2008. Rising Stars recognizes the top 2.5 percent of up-and-coming attorneys under forty, who have been practicing for ten years or less, in Southern California. The Super Lawyers survey was sponsored by Key Professional Media, Inc., publishers of Law & Politics Magazine.

For the second year in a row, Kenneth C. “KC” Ward has been named in Super Lawyers magazine. In his career as trial attorney, KC Ward has tried over 85 cases to verdict. He graduated from Northern Illinois University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and his memberships include the Contra Costa Bar Association, Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, and the American Board of Trial Advocates where he holds the rank of Advocate. He is recognized as a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, a Master in the American Inns of Court, and has held a Martindale-Hubbell AV rating for over 20 years. Ward is admitted to practice in California and Nevada.

For the fifth consecutive year, Jonathan Bacon has been selected to appear in Super Lawyers. He focuses his practice on construction defect and toxic tort litigation and represents a variety of subcontractors, general contractors and property and business owners in cases involving residential, high rise and commercial construction defects and toxics-related bodily injury claims throughout California. He serves as a private mediator in multi-party construction defect cases and as a volunteer mediator for Contra Costa Superior Court's alternative dispute resolution programs. Jon Bacon earned his J.D. from Golden Gate University in 1981 and a B.A. in 1977 from Ithaca College. He is admitted to practice in California and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California. Mr. Bacon is a member of the State Bar of California; Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada (2007 President); the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys; and the Contra Costa County Bar Association.

Steven B. Welch is the chair of Archer Norris’s Construction Litigation Practice Group. His practice specializes in representation of subcontractors, general contractors and owners in all types of construction disputes. These claims include construction defects, property damage, breach of contract, delay damages, business interruption, mold contamination and job site injury. Mr. Welch received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law (1989) and his B.A. from St. Michael’s College (1985).   He is a member of the Association of Defense Counsel for Northern California and Nevada, Contra Costa County Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, Western States Petroleum Association and Associated General Contractors of America.

Also recognized for the second year in a row in the Super Lawyers - Rising Star Edition, Limor Lehavi has a strong litigation background with a focus on insurance bad faith and coverage related litigation. Lehavi has co-tried several high exposure insurance bad faith cases to verdict in California and Federal courts and is a frequent speaker to insurance carriers on bad faith issues. Prior to becoming a U.S. citizen, Lehavi served as a Deputy Commander in the Israeli Defense Service, Intelligence Branch. Lehavi earned her L.L.B. (J.D. equivalent) from the University of Haifa School of Law (1995) and her L.L.M., cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law (1996).
