“My clients have businesses to run and litigation is typically a last resort for them. My job is to minimize the disruptions created by litigation and help them get on with running their business.”

Todd Jones focuses on defending complex civil and business litigation matters, and works tirelessly to achieve favorable results for his clients. His practice emphasis includes product liability, personal injuries, construction defects, employment and commercial litigation, premises liability and toxic torts. Todd manages our Sacramento office, which he established in 2005.

Todd also specializes in providing legal counsel to construction companies, contractors, subcontractors, real estate developers and insurers. Todd is a licensed California general contractor – as well as the grandson and great grandson of California contractors - who applies his industry legacy and experience to litigation, transactional and preventive counsel.

Growing and Protecting California’s Construction Community

Todd’s counsel to property owners, developers, contractors, manufacturers and their insurers has grown apace with the phenomenal development of the Sacramento, Central Valley and Foothill communities over the last decade.

Todd’s clients include real estate developers and home builders, including a prestigious national home building corporation with projects throughout Northern California. He also counts among his long-term clients several window manufacturers, as well as flooring, tile and electrical contractors.

From custom, speculation and tract housing to commercial and industrial projects, Todd uses his construction-insider’s knowledge to provide clients with a distinct advantage in litigation and transactions.

Litigation Services for Business Owners

In litigation matters, he frequently defends property and business owners from claims involving personal injuries, employment claims, product liability, delay claims and toxic mold exposure.  By fostering open communication with clients and pursuing the informal exchange of information with other parties at the onset of cases, Todd frequently succeeds in resolving disputes early and efficiently, before formal litigation is necessary.

Todd is also a Court-appointed arbitrator and mediator for the Sacramento County Superior Court and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada, where he chairs the Construction Law Committee.

Todd Jones's representative matters include:

  • Environmental Remediation Verdict - Achieved a 12-0 defense verdict, following a four-week jury trial, on behalf of a remediation contractor facing allegations related to moldand sewage claims resulting in personal injury and property damage claims at an Oakland Hills property. Following the trial, Todd was awarded attorney costs, and later successfully defended the jury verdict on appeal.
  • Defective Construction and Water Intrusion - Represented a general contractor of a massive 280-unit apartment complex in Roseville facing a range of allegations including construction defects, water intrusion and mold contamination.  Todd resolved the case 9 months ahead of trial for a fraction of the plaintiff’s demand, achieving a global settlement.
  • Wrongful Death Claim - Granted a Motion for Summary Judgment on behalf of a client who was the former owner of a 105-unit apartment building in Berkeley, where a blocked wall heater flue caused the carbon monoxide death of a tentant and led to the injury to 2 other tenants.
  • Toxic Mold - Represent numerous contractors and subcontractors in toxic mold claims and achieve favorable outcomes on their behalf.
  • Delay Claim - Defended a window manufacturer involved in a delay claim connected to a multimillion-dollar home, resolving the dispute without formal action.
  • Flooring and Electrical Contractors - Ongoing counsel and litigation defense to large commercial and residential contractors and manufacturers of tile, flooring and electrical systems.
