Focus on Food from the Bar: Archer Norris a Top Fundraiser
For 19 years, the annual fundraiser Food from the Bar has been a major component of the Contra Costa County Bar Association's (CCCBA) community outreach. The CCCBA has raised $835,000 and over 54 tons of food and is one of the largest local supporters of the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
Archer Norris Walks the Walk, Raises Money and Cracks a Joke
In friendly competition, law firms and legal organizations vie with one another to raise donations and have fun. From an Annual 5K Walk-A-Thon, a bake sale, a raffle, a potluck lunch and a fine wine auction, our events foster a convivial, collegial and charitable atmosphere. Other fundraising festivities include the Res Ipsa Jokuitur comedy night.
On Point and On Top for Food for the Bar
Participating law offices solicited vendors, local restaurants and businesses who generously donated goods, services and cash for auctions and raffles. With enthusiasm and a strong sense of community, Archer Norris rallied to raise over $13,500 and 128 pounds of food and was recognized at the Annual FFTB Awards Luncheon for the most contributions for a firm of 51+ employees.
This year, the Los Angeles office joined our fundraising efforts, participating in the 3rd Annual Food From the Bar Campaign, by holding a silent auction, a cook-off and even a doughnut eating competition. Their hard work was rewarded with Bronze Partner recognition and the Creativity Award for the Most Innovative, Unusual or Effective Fundraising Idea. Even more sweet was the total contribution of $900 benefiting Los Angeles Regional Food Bank’s Food from the Bar campaign.
A True Team Effort
Food for the Bar was a true team effort and with our combined execution, Archer Norris contributed toward feeding 100,000 people who might otherwise go hungry. As Archer Norris partner Ed Shaffer observed, "The Bar Association is one of the food bank's largest contributors - at a time when it is needed more than ever as more people seek help and other sources of aid dry up. This effort helps feed thousands of Contra Costa County residents in need."
